islamabad - The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) have recovered huge quantity of illegal arms and ammunition from a vehicle, the police said yesterday.

As per details, the police received information through Help Line (130) that a Mehran car bearing registration number (RI-344) has turned turtle on the Motorway (M-1) near Swabi due to tyre burst. Motorway Police officers immediately reached the spot. The officers saw no one near the car. They found the car as suspicious and checked it. During search, the officers found huge quantity of arms and ammunition that included 14 12-bore guns, 3 SMGs along with 2460 live rounds, 1 sub-machine gun, 11 30-bore pistols along with 14265 live rounds, 4 9-mm pistols, 1 12-bore repeater gun, 1 30-bore gun, 5 ACP-45 live rounds, 70 live bullets of 8mm and 3250 rounds of 7-mm. The registration book was found inside the car. The owner of the vehicle, according to the registration book, is Sajjad Ahmed son of Zahir Shah, resident of Peshawar. Later on, vehicle and the recovered arms and ammunition was handed over to the local police; Hazro police station for further legal action and investigation.
