Dr Nizam new Punjab HEC chief
Islamabad - The government of Punjab appointed educationist Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin as chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission on Tuesday.
Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin earned his PhD degree in population/social science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA (1979), with fellowship from Ford Foundation New York. Early on he has had the honour to be awarded with USAID-SIDA Fellowship for master’s studies, University of Chicago, USA (1969).
He has unique distinction of being awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the present government for his contribution in higher education in Pakistan. Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin has a rich experience of working as the vice chancellor University of Gujrat from 2006 to 2014. He has also been given additional charge of vice chancellor of Government College Women University Sialkot in 2012.
Prof Nizam brings with him an excellent academic and administrative record. Immediately after completing his PhD, he taught as assistant professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Later, he joined the UN system.
Throughout his professional career, he has been engaged in managing and funding programmes for public policy research centres and universities for capacity building of human resources in developing countries.
