Conference to analyse Pak-German parties’ youth wings starts tomorrow

Islamabad - The department of sociology, Quaid-i-Azam University, in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) is organising two days international conference on “Youth Wings Among Political Parties: A Comparative Analysis of Germany and Pakistan” from March 30-31, 2015.
The conference is intended to discuss the political youth among different political parties in Pakistan as well as in Germany.
The young people are contributing towards the civic and democratic values of the both countries. The political parties of Pakistan and Germany have their youth wings but they are different in manifestations and values.
This conference will discuss and shed light on the broader themes including youth political parties’ contribution towards the civic and democratic values, political and public policy activism, leadership, youth politics and violence.
The experts would also discuss national and international networks of youth political parties. An important aspect of the conference is to draw policy recommendation to promote the youth engagement, especially in Pakistan.
Dr Muhammad Zaman, head of the department of sociology QAU, while briefing about the conference said that academically, the conference will foster the creation and dissemination of growing knowledge for comprehensive understanding of various aspects of youth political participation and modern trends in social sciences to grasp.
He said that there will be research papers and presentations of acclaimed academicians, experts and research scholars from all over Pakistan while some representatives from Germany, Switzerland and Norway will also participate and present research work.
“Youth in Pakistan is much more radicalised and intolerant in political as well as social affairs. This conference may sensitise the relevant parties and actors to develop a thought to deal and engage peacefully the politically active youth in Pakistan,” he added.
