Teachers call off strike on CADD assurances

islamabad - The Central Academic Staff Association (CASA) yesterday announced to call off strike in model colleges of the city after Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) assured teachers of meeting their demands.

A CASA representative while talking to The Nation confirmed the development and said, “Joint Action Committee (JAC) has decided to end the strike in institutions from Thursday (today).”

He said, “Some of our demands regarding regular promotions, appointment of principals on seniority basis and revision of promotion policy have been been accepted.”

An official from CADD also confirmed that negotiations with CASA remained positive and the protesting body has decided to call off the strike being held for more than two weeks.

“All units of JAC decided to discontinue the strike with a good will gesture and on the assurances of the officials. All the demands have been rationally accepted,” said a statement issued by the CASA.

The CASA held nearly two weeks long strike on non-implementation on their demands in which teaching and non-teaching staff, including vice-principals of the institutions, not only boycotted the classes but also denied to perform official work.
