Education promotion pact

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria, for the promotion of education and research.
The MoU was signed by Dean Faculty of Bio-Sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman and Rector University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Prof Dr Sonja Hammerschmid at a ceremony.  During the meeting, Dean Faculty of Bio-sciences conveyed the message from Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, that UVAS is keen to develop mutual courses for undergraduate and postgraduates with University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna.
He also mentioned that the Vice-Chancellor would like to see growing relationships with University of Veterinary Medicine with particular emphasis on livestock and dairy sectors.  In this MoU, the UVAS and University of Veterinary Medicine will exchange faculty members for lectures and students for short-term visits, higher studies and basic scientific research and to hold joint conferences, seminars, cultural programs and exchange publications.  During the ceremony, Dr Ursula M Schober, (Büro für Internationale Beziehungen, office of international relations) shared her eagerness to collaborate with the UVAS. The Dean, FBS, UVAS thanked Dr Ursula M Schober and mentioned that this MoU was not possible without her support and cooperation.–Staff Reporter
He also informed the MoU signing ceremony participants that the UVAS currently has four faculty members who graduated from University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna and also many graduates from Vienna are working in various universities and research institutes across Pakistan.
The MoU signatories ceremony agreed to jointly explore national and international funding opportunities for research. The two universities also agreed to pursue the negotiation and development of all matters associated with those academic and administrative arrangements necessary to develop partnership activity on academic matters.
