Games, edu termed a must for success
BAHAWALPUR
Games and education are vital for success of the youth as the skills got during physical activities contribute to their bright future, said Mansoor Ahmed, former captain of National Hockey team.
“Through participation in sport and physical activities, young people learn the importance of key values such as honesty, teamwork, fairplay, respect for themselves and others and abiding by the rules,” he said. Mansoor Ahmed said that the championship was aimed to provide a forum for young people to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both a victory and a defeat. These learning aspects highlight the impact of physical education and sport on a child’s social and moral development in addition to physical skills and abilities, he said.
Meanwhile, Project Director Asif Farooqui of foundation announced Hockey Championship to be organised at district sports complex, Bahawalpur in collaboration with Umeed Jawan, District Hockey Association and the district administration.
He further added that the purpose of organising this championship in Bahawalpur is aimed to provide training and development opportunities to the youth of less privileged districts of Pakistan. Sixteen hockey teams of different clubs and academic institutions will participate in the championship. First three position holders will be awarded trophies and cash prizes along with opportunity to interact with leading trainers and renowned sports personalities who will share their personal experiences with them.
