PU workshop on wildlife, aerobiology
LAHORE - Punjab University Department of Zoology organized a conference and training workshop entitled “Wildlife and Aerobiology”. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairman Department of Zoology Dr Muhammad Akhter, Associate Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ali, scientists, research scholars and students were present on the occasion.
In the first session of the conference, training for wildlife and aerobiological analysis was delivered by Arifa Sosan from University of Essex-UK, Hassan Ali from WWF, Prof Abdul Qadir, Dr Sikander Sultan, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Sidra Safdar, Dr Shakeel Ahmad. Apart from the invaluable knowledge exchanged through this conference and training, development of new linkages with other Higher Education Institutes around the country was an additional benefit for the audience.
The conference brings together 76 abstracts for oral and poster presentations. More than 166 leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars have exchanged and shared their experiences and research results about all aspects of Wildlife, Ecology, Zoology and aerobiology.
The participating departments were 34 from 21 academic Institutes and universities. The conference have provided the premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the field of wildlife and aerobiological science.
Later, best poster award was won by Zona Zaidi, Zara Hussain and Samuel Shahzad, best natural photographer award was given to Maleeha Rafaqat and best oral presentation was awarded to Dr Tanveer Hussain.
Moot on relativistic astrophysics today
Punjab University Department of Mathematics is organising 5-day International Conference on “Relativistic Astrophysics” to celebrate 100 years of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
In this regard PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran will inaugurate the conference on Tuesday (today) at 10am at Al-Raazi Hall. Chairman Department of Mathematics Prof Dr Muhammad Sharif has said in a press statement that as many as 200 national and international researchers will participate in the event and about 60 research papers will be presented.
He said that internationally acknowledged researchers from USA, UK, Italy, Japan, Venezuela, Turkey, China and Switzerland will present research papers in the conference. He said conference would be a great opportunity for young researchers and scientists around the world for presentation of research based knowledge, experiences, new advancements, research results and innovations in the field of gravitational and mathematical physics.
He said the event would contribute to achieve national and international goals and targets.
