LAHORE - Defying court orders, a private school - Bricks - refused to issue result cards and certificates to two students, also forcing them to deposit summer vacations fees, whereas the students have already served one month prior notice for leaving the school before vacations.
Instead of facilitating the students after serving notice by the mother of the students, the administration and the owner of Bricks School situated in Defence Housing Authority Lahore stopped both students forcibly to appear in the internal annual exams of the school. Besides threats to their mother, both the students, Sajiha Zahra and Nismal Zahra, were kicked out from the farewell party that held only a day before exams certainly as punishment for not depositing summer vacation fees.
The mother of both minor students, Ayesha Hasnain said she served the notice to the school administration as per the policy of the school on April, 24, 2015 after depositing two months (April and May) fees as she wanted to change their school. But the administrators, including school director Junaid Ghaznavi, principal Shehla Ghaznavi and reception officer Sabahat got annoyed. “They threatened me that they would not allow my daughters to appear in school exams if I did not deposit summer vacation fees,” she said.
“I got really upset after receiving such threats and decided to go to the court for getting relief and filed an application in the court of Senior Civil Judge for permanent injunction (stay order) with an intention to secure future of my daughters.”
The court issued stay order and the lady got relaxed, happy and confident that her children could now appear in exams. She dropped her daughters on the day of exam at the school, and left for her office after they both entered into school. But, after about half an hour, the admin called her, saying her children were not allowed to appear in exams. The mother got sickly worried and reached the school where she found her daughters crying. “I did not lose my patience and reappeared in the court and filed a suit of contempt by the school admin,” she told The Nation. Although the school administration, after the court warning, allowed her daughters for appearing in second paper but delaying tactics are being used in issuance of result and other certificates, she added.
Meanwhile, Ms Husnain said she contacted the Education Department to register her complaint but all in vain as nobody was ready to take action. She also revealed an officer of education department told her that Bricks School was not registered with any authority and was functioning illegally.
