World Education Games to begin from 13th

LAHORE - The three-day World Education Games (WEG) 2015, the biggest kids’ online event of its nature, supported by the UNICEF and other international institutions will start from October 13.
Two brilliant Pakistani students will represent the country as Ambassadors in the 3 days long online event. The WEG will include
World Literacy Day, World Maths Day and World Science Day and kids from all over the world can play games any time in given days.
3P Learning Pakistan, one of the organizers of the event, Regional Manager Iffat Ahmar stated here this evening that the Games 2015 will be a milestone in brainstorming and talent shining of students from hundreds of participating schools from across Pakistan in the three-day online event. World Education Games are considered to be the World’s largest online event, she added.
She added that the Student Ambassadors for the WEG from Pakistan including Fatima Yousaf from Learning Alliance Faisalabad and Meeral.
Nasir from Beaconhouse Palm Tree Campus, Gujranwala are the two lucky young girls representing the country on the world stage.
The best thing about the World Education Games is the fact that it has become a platform for the students from all over the world to compete in a healthy environment and get to know each other. It is the world’s largest online educational competition with over five million school students aged 4-18 from over 200 countries and territories around the world participating when it was last held in 2013.
Meanwhile, Joao Paulo Sabido, incharge of mission’s businesses, Embassy of Portugal Sunday visited the main library Punjab University.
He visited the various sections of the library and evinced keen interest for providing the best possible peaceful atmosphere and academic environment to researchers and students for pursuing their studies under one umbrella especially in centrally air-conditioned halls. He was accompanied by honourary consulate of Portugal Iftikhar Firoz.
Briefing the foreign dignitary, Chief Librarian Haseeb Ahmad Pircha said that it has now become the largest e-library in the country with a stock of over 65,000 modern books online.
He said with the collaboration of Higher Education Commission, a large number of modern books have been put on line to facilitate the teachers, researchers and students for pursuit of higher studies and conducting modern research in different faculties.
He said that all out efforts were being made to develop reading habits among the students and teachers to meet the future challenges.
He said that a record number of over 10,000 modern books of different subjects were being added annually to the main library for the benefit of the faculty members, scholars, researchers and students.
Haseeb Ahmad Pircha said that entire data of books has been uploaded on its website “www.pulibrary.edu.pk” for users worldwide. He said that it has now become a real centre of learning.
He said, “We have rare collection and volume of books and scripts which have been saved. Reference books are also available on all subjects for indoor study”.
He said entire credit goes to VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran for patronising the library which now turned as one the best with excellent collection of books and other important printed material.
