PCB holds national U-16 talent-hunt trials

MIRPUR (AJK) Hundreds of local lads thronged the MiRwpur Cricket Stadium on Monday to participate in the trials for the selection of fresh blood in the under-16 year age category for the national cricket team. The trials were organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board with the coordination of Pepsi cola and AJK Sport Board. The PCB-Pepsi Star Talent program for under-16 to spot talent among boys born on or after 1-9-1994 has been launched across the country including Azad Jammu Kashmir, Talent-Hunt Officer and Selector PCB Abdul Raoof Mirza told The Nation at the MiRwpur Cricket Stadium at the advent of the trials. The trials for talent hunt at this stadium would continue for a week, he added. He was flanked by Syed Rashid Ali, Assistant Coach PCB, Secretary Management Committee MiRwpur Stadium Mirza Kalim Jiraal, Nawaz Rattyal, representative of PCB in AJK and acting President AJK Cricket Association, Syed Liaqat Hussain Assistant Director AJk Sports Board, Talat Mir, Fazal ur Rehman Alvi Gen. Secretary AJK CA, ex Cricketer Khalid Rattyal, Head Curator Tahir Shoukat and scores of other cricket fans. DCO MiRwpur Muhammad Tayyeb formally inaugurated the trials, which would continue for seven days. Speaking on this occasion, Tayyeb said that the AJK government was determined to provide healthy sport activities to youth. He said that the emergence of a world class MiRwpur Cricket Stadium was the ample proof of this fact. Tayyeb hoped that the local lads would emerge as national stars for tomorrow raising the name of Pakistan and AJK across the global horizon. The DCO said that the arrival of hundreds of the under-16 local lads for participating in the trials was a proof of the abundance of talent in the AJK.
