LAHORE : Representatives of trade and industry have widely condemned the carnage in Shikarpur, asking the government to step up efforts to protect religious minorities and combat terrorism.
FPCCI president Mian Adrees denounced the bombing of Imambargah and mosque in Shikarpur on Friday. He called upon the authorities to redouble their efforts to protect religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan and to combat terrorism in all its forms. Mian Adrees urged the whole nation and all parliamentary parties to take unified stand to weed out the menace of terrorism.
“The whole nation should come out to show solidarity with the families of victims. The prime minister, chief ministers and governors should personally visit the site of incident,” FBR Union president Mian Abdul Qayyum said. He asked the Sindh government to awake from its deep slumber and take stringent measures to maintain law and order. The PML-N Traders Wing Lahore general secretary Shahid Nazir said he is appalled by such vicious targeting of people. He said that apart from paralysing the country, the attacks caused tremendous hardships for trade and industry due to the closure of businesses. Expressing his utter dismay over the brutal incident, he said that all political parties and religious factions should unite to face and fight the enemies,” said Shahid Nazir.
