Kitchen items prices go up

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on May 29, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.75 per cent over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 203.01as against 201.50 registered in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.66 per cent by rising from 192.21 in the previous week to 193.47 in the week under review. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 25.93 per cent. The SPI for the groups falling in the income brackets of 3001-5000, 5001-12000 and above 12000 witnessed increase of 0.71, 0.71 and 0.59 respectively. During the week under review average prices of 8 items registered decrease, while that of 30 items increased with the remaining 15 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included, tomatoes, red chillies, bananas, garlic, moong pulse (washed), lawn, gram pulse (washed), and egg hen (farm). The items which registered increase in their prices included, potatoes, bread plain (mid size), sugar, onions, LPG( 11 kg cylender), masoor pulse (washed), milk powdered (Nido), voil printed, wheat (average quality), vegetable ghee (loose), curd, milk (fresh), tea (prepared), gur, vegetable ghee (tin), beef, bath soap (Lifebouy), cooking oil (tin), kerosene, salt (powdered), wheat flour (average quality), rice basmati (broken), cooked beef, mutton, mustard oil, rice irri-6, cooked dal, coarse latha, mash pulse (washed) and chicken (farm) The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, tea packet, cigarettes k-2, shirting, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng. (Bata), firewood, electricity bulb (60wats), match box, washing soap (Nylon), gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU) , electricity charges, petrol, diesel and telephone local call.
