QUETTA - Iran is keen strengthening bilateral trade with Pakistan as Iran had offered incoming Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif of provision of 1000 megawatt electricity to Balochistan.
These views were expressed by Iranian Consul General based at Quetta Syed Hassan Yahyavi during his visit to Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta’s office on Friday.
Iranian diplomat said that Iranian ambassador in Islamabad during his meeting with PML-N chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shahrif offered him provision of 1000 megawatt electricity. “Pak-Iran relations always remained friendly and they will further strengthen in future,” he said, adding that Iran would provide maximum facilities to the traders of Balochistan.
He also stressed upon the improvement of condition of Pak-Iran railway line, adding that all out efforts would be made to boost trade.
Yahyavi informed that in order to facilitate the traders of Pak-Iran a joint bank would be set up so that they do not face difficulties in exchange of money. “We have also reduced the visa fee for Balochistani traders from Rs 22000 to Rs 15000,” he said, adding that Iranian government would take all measures for their comfort.
He regretted that Quetta-Taftan highway was in a dilapidated condition owing to which passengers and motorists were facing immense difficulties. “Government of Pakistan should improve the condition of highway besides improving law and order,” he stressed.
