Punjab promoting public-private partnership projects

LAHORE (PR): Punjab is committed to promoting public-private partnership projects which result in job creation. This was stated by Chairman Planning and Development Board Muhammad Irfan Elahi while addressing the concluding session of project inception workshop held at the P&D Auditorium. The workshop was organized by Public Private Partnership Cell to kick off a joint consulting project “Enhancing Public Private Partnerships in Punjab” in collaboration with Asian Development Bank and Korean export import Bank. A Korean delegation, led by HWANG Sae Won senior representative of KEXIM Bank, consisting of representative from EXIM bank Korea, Korea Expressway Cooperation, DASAN Consultants and KPMG is visiting Pakistan in this connection.
The project aims at implementing international best practices and successful public-private partnership models in Punjab. The project will also provide trainings and establish interface with the Korean investors for participation in PPP projects in the Punjab Province. Agha Waqar Javed, Member Public Private Partnership Cell P&D, during the workshop, presented an overview of Punjab PPP initiative and gave details of achievements and projects in pipeline. This was followed by presentations of Korea Exim Bank and DASAN Consultants. The inception workshop also discussed the project implementation plan through which KEXIM bank intends to commit US$ 250,000 for capacity building, expert advice and investor interface.
