ISLAMABAD : The government on Sunday granted extension in the period of applicability of reduced rate of withholding tax @ 0.4 per cent on banking transactions by non-filers up to May 31.

Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar as Chairman, Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) has accorded anticipatory approval for extension, said a press release.
