IWCCI elects Zakia as its new President

ISLAMABAD : Renowned female entrepreneur of the Capital Dr. Zakia Hashmi has been elected unopposed as President of the Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) for the term 2014-2015. A statement issued here Wednesday said that annual general meeting of the IWCCI was held with chamber’s outgoing and founder president Samina Fazil in chair. During the meeting Dr. Zakia Hashmi was elected President of the IWCCI unopposed while Ms Shama Ashufta was elected as Senior Vice President and Ms Shahnaz Malik was elected as Vice President.
Speaking on the occasion Zakia Hashmi thanked participants for reposing confidence in her and said that Pakistan can only become a developed nation when women are encouraged and their skills utilized properly.
Spilling out her priorities, she said that she will assist women so that they can have a voice and become economically empowered.
She lauded the women empowerment initiatives undertaken by the government asking the authorities to do more in this regard.
She paid glowing tribute to the services of outgoing president Samina
Fazil who has dedicated her energies to the promotion of businesswomen.
Speaking at the occasion, Samina Fazil said that IWCCI has emerged as a strong institution giving help, guidance and hope the female entrepreneurs.
We will continue to cooperate with all the stakeholders for the greater and collective good, she added.
