Pakistan has rich business potentials

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim informed the Swedish Business community about the rich business potential of Pakistan. According to a message received here on Tuesday, the Federal Minister during his stay in Sweden, met with his Swedish counterpart Ms Eva Bjorling and the Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and they discussed important trade and commercial issues of both the countries. The Swedish govt supported the idea of initiating technical assistance cooperation between Swedish private sector and Pakistani business institutions like TDAP. The Commerce Ministers identified some diverse sectors like Textile, Agro food industry, mining, Alternate Energy sector, capacity building and skill development of work force, market access for traditional handicrafts and projects for clean drinking water. A business meeting was also held, where representatives of important Swedish business and Industrial communities like SAAB, Erikson, EKN and JIBS were present. The Federal Minister briefed the Swedish Business community about the rich business potential of Pakistan. Jonkoping International Business School (JIBS) also arranged a presentation for the Commerce Minister at World Trade Center. The president of Jonkoping University welcomed the proposal for technical collaboration between TDAP and JIBS. The Swedish Trade council briefed the Pakistan delegation about their activities and current operations in Asia. A Swedish trade delegation headed by Trade Minister is also expected to visit Pakistan in 2009.
