PR GM retires

LAHORE – Pakistan Railways (PR) General Manager (Operation) Rana Saeed Akhtar on Friday retired from service on superannuation. The summary for new General Manager has been sent to Prime Minister for approval, said a statement.
However, according to some officers of PR, a case for the extension in Saeed Akhtar’s tenure is also under-consideration. Akhtar is being considered a pioneer for introducing public-private partnership in the utility. During his tenure, PR has started two trains (Business Express, Shalimar Express) with the cooperation of private companies.
According to seniority list, three officers including PRACS MD Junaid Qureshi, Sec. Railways Bored Muhammad Shahid and AGM (Infrastructure) Anjum Pervez are qualifying for the top administration post.
Pakistan Railways Police also arranged a farewell party on retirement of Saeed Akhtar. PRP IGP Syed Ibne Hussain, DIG Munir Ahmad Chishti, DGM Rizwan-ul-Haq Hashmi, AIG Intizar Ahmad Qureshi, SSPs Ahmad Mukhtar Khan, Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Siqqui along with other officers participated. The PRP IG presented a souvenir to Saeed Akhtar.
