Pak-EU investors’ forum to be constituted
 
 
 

LAHORE - Punjab governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said that a business forum of the Pakistani and European Union investors and traders is being constituted to take maximum benefit of the newly achieved GSP Plus status.
He said the business forum would also be represented by the eminent persons on both sides, while it will work in collaboration with the Finance Ministry of Pakistan.  The Governor said this while talking to a delegation of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FCCI), led by its president Eng Suhail Bin Rashid, which called on him here on Saturday. Country director of Muslim Aid Serving Humanity, Hobab A Waheedi, Sheikh Farooq Allawala, Abdulllah Sheikh, Ch Asghar, Riazul Haq and others were also present on the occasion.
The governor said acceleration of trade and business activities is inevitable. He said the government is pursuing a strategy to attract foreign investment to the country to speed up momentum of the business in Pakistan. He also underscored the need for acting in close liaison by all stakeholders in order to take advantage of the GSP+ status which he added has opened up a new avenues of increasing exports of the Pakistani items in Europe. He said alive to the need of a better textile sector to promote exports, the government is also taking every step to facilitate the textile manufacturers and address their problems. He said under instructions of the Prime Minister supply of gas to the textile sector twice a week is being strictly ensured.
 He also appreciated the Punjab government scheme for providing clean potable water to the people throughout the province for which initially Rs 10 billion have been allocated. He also gave the credit of bringing marked improvement in the education system of Punjab and creating an atmosphere for the youth which not encourages them to education but also gives them opportunity to take part in health activity.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FCCI and Muslim Aid Serving on providing clean water and sharing cooperation in different educational social projects was also singed on the occasion.
