India asked to remove Pak concerns

OUR STAFF REPORTER KARACHI- India and Pakistan need to overcome bureaucratic, political and security impediments urgently in order to increase the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries. This was the crux of the presentations given at a seminar on Pakistan-India Trade: Prospects and Challenges, jointly organised by India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Pakistan Chapter) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry at a hotel. Addressing the seminar, Zafar Mahmood, Secretary Commerce, said India should remove Pakistans concerns over the European Unions trade concessions package for Pakistan. He said that the EU Council had agreed to grant Pakistan special concessions to support its ailing economy in the wake of devastation by the floods. However, India at WTO meeting continued to show its opposition to the proposed trade concessions.
