Gas loadshedding driving country to Stone Age

RAWALPINDI (Online) Gas load-shedding has pushed the citizens of Rawalpindi to Stone Age and they are constrained to use fire wood to meet their needs, residents said Monday. Residents of in Rawalpindi cantt including Dhok Jumma, Dhok Kalhor and Mubarak Lane, Allah Abad, Dhok Hassoo, Dhok Mangtal, Peshawar road have voiced protest over increased load shedding from 6 A.M to 5 P.M daily saying the whole world is moving ahead on the path to progress but we are on the path to retrogression due to ill conceived policies of government. The rulers are indulged in loot and plunder spree and are not paying any heed to the problems facing the common man, said Nazir Ahmad, a social worker. "We are forced to burn fire wood and use kerosene oil to provide breakfast and meal to our school going children. The wood is being sold out at exorbitant rates and buying wood on daily basis at such high prices has deprived us of other essential commodities of life as we have to consume a large proportion of our budget on getting fire wood and kerosene oil", said Nisar Ali, a Naib Qasid from some government office. "We have to use gas cylinders to meet the needs of our daily customers. These cylinders cost us heavily but we are forced to use them. But how long we will afford it. One day we will have to close down our ovens, said Kamal Ud Din an owner of oven. The political, religious, social circles and representatives of civil society have demanded of the government to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to citizens to prove their tall claims of a democratic government rather than aggravating problems.
