Issue of Indian water theft raised

LAHORE The Pakistan Muthida Kisan Mahaz (PMKM) has raised the issue of building of water reservoirs on different rivers by India in violation of Indus Water Treaty with United Nations Observer Group during a march organized by Azad Jammu-o-Kashmir wing of the organization in Muzaffarabad. Pakistan Muthida Kisan Mahaz Chief Ayub Khan Mayo led a rally in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday and handed over a memorandum to the UN Observer Group for India and Pakistan Azad Jammu-o-Kashmir raising issues like Kishan Ganga and other dams depriving Pakistan from its share of water. The Memorandum said that US Senator Jhon Carry in a report also raised alarm on these projects and said deforestation by India to carry out construction of dams on river Sindh, Jhelum and Chenab would worsen the situation in Jammu-o-Kashmir and also reduce water flow to Pakistan. Pakistan Muthida Kisan Mahaz alleged that India had never been fair to Pakistan in provision of its share of water and always tried to grab more water than its share and deprive the poor farmers and people of Pakistan and AJK from their due share. Discussing Kishanganga, the memorandum said that river water would be diverted to a 22 kilometer long tunnel in to the Wullar lake. The tunnel is about to be completed in spite of the protest of people of the Gurez valley. This diversion will change the course of the Neelum by around 204 kilometer. It will finally join the Jhelum through Wullar lake near Bandipore town in Baramulla district of Indian administered Kashmir.
