Date traders experience boom in sales during Ramazan
ISLAMABAD (APP): In Holy month of Ramzan, the demand of dates has increased manifolds in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Owing to the demand, small vendors have set up dates stalls at various places in the twin cities to facilitate the citizens, while shopkeepers have also displayed multiple varieties of dates in their shops. The shopkeepers while talking to APP said that there was an obvious increase in the demand of dates of good quality as every person spends openheartedly on fruit and dates in Ramzan. They said that the citizens buy dates in large quantities during the holy month of Ramazan as compared to other months of the year.
Residents at different markets of the twin cities, said that some of the dates sellers did not display rate lists and mint higher prices due to the increase in the demand.
They calle for action against the profiteers to ensure the sale of dates on fixed rates.
CDA Chairman directs to ensure edible items on cheaper rates
ISLAMABAD (Online): Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal has directed to ensure the availability of daily used commodities and edible items in all weekly bazaars of Islamabad on cheaper rates with large quantity during the Ramazan. He issued these directions during a meeting held here. On this occasion Member Administration and Estate, Amir Ali Ahmed, Director Municipal Administration, Director Bazaar and officers of concerned formations of the Authority were also present. Amir Ali Ahmed apprised the Chairman that concrete measures have been taken for availability of daily used edible items in all weekly bazaar.
He informed the Chairman CDA that during the month of Ramazan, fresh fruits, vegetables and poultry are available to the consumers in huge quantity on priority basis, adding that he has strictly instructed the bazaar administration of all weekly bazaars to examine the prices of all commodities in the fruit and vegetable market personally to make it sure that the prices of edible items in the weekly bazaars could not exceed the approved prices. We have already directed the concerned inspectors of weekly bazaars to strictly monitor the prices and quality of daily used items and asked them to ensure approved prices of these items, Amir Ali Ahmed informed the chairman CDA.
He said that bazaar administration has also been directed to issue notices to those stallholders, selling substandard and expired fruits, vegetables and other items and if they do not comply with orders then issue challan and impose fine in addition to notices.
New board of HBFCL to be
appointed soon: Dar
ISLAMABAD (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Sunday said that after the appointment of new management, new Board is being appointed in the House Building Finance Corporation Limited (HBFCL). “In line with the announcement made in the budget, the institution will be reformed and restructured to make it a vibrant financial institution with robust balance sheet,” Dar said in a meeting with Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Ashraf Wathra. Wathra met the Finance Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar to discuss issues related to SBP, according to press statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.
Similarly new management has been appointed to head Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and the government has already notified enhancement of agriculture credit availability of Rs 500 billion to farmers through SBP arrangement with complete participation by ZTBL, Dar added .
He assured the Governor SBP that the issues he has raised will be taken up with the management of the concerned financial institutions and a resolution mechanism will be provided for payment of their outstanding dues towards SBP.
He informed that both the financial institutions have new management and efforts will be made for devising a mechanism to resolve outstanding issues.
On the occasion, the governor informed the minister about the status of overdue credit lines to HBFCL and ZTBL.
The meeting was also attended by Finance Secretary, Dr. Waqar Masood, Advisor to the Finance Ministry Rana Assad Amin and senior officials of the Finance Ministry.
Attractive policies being introduced to expand tax network: Rana Afzal
ISLAMABAD (APP): Parliamentary Secretary of Finance, Rana Muhammad Afzal has said that policies were being formulated to expand tax network. He appreciated the role and efforts of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for making progress in the tax collection system. Talking to PTV, he urged businessmen and wealthy people to get the NTN numbers so that proper tax collection could be ensured. He said that govt was trying to strengthen Pak rupee against dollar to provide relief to masses. He said that government under the dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif was committed to resolve the problems of the people and for this, all available resources are being utilized to achieve the objectives.
Rana Afzal said that there is no harm in the positive criticism.
He said that suggestions should be brought at proper forum for improving the system.
Rs 52.38b for Communications
Division under PSDP released
ISLAMABAD (APP): The Government released Rs 52384.727m under the PSDP 2013-14 against total allocation of Rs 63147.884m for various development projects of Communications Ministry till June 27. According to latest data allocation of Rs 658 million has been released for Nishtar Ghat Bridge linking G.T Road with Indus Highway in district Rajanpur while Rs 400 million out of Rs 500 million have been released for construction bridge over Indus River at Larkana. The government had allocated a total of Rs 213.024 million for Construction of Faisalabad-Khanewal Expressway (M-4) for fiscal year 2013-14 and the entire amount has been released.
Rs 403 million allocated for construction of bridge over Chenab River at Garh Maharaja in Jhang district have been released while 172.265 million earmarked for Kolpur bypass in Mastung district have also been released. Similarly Rs 497.673 million earmarked for construction of road from Gharo to Ketti Bander in Distinct Thattha have been released. Rs 349.008 million allocated for land acquisition of M-4 have been released while Rs 3433 million set aside for Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section of M-8 have also been released. As far as Hassanabdal-Mansehra Expressway (E-35) is concerned, Rs 1,194.980 million allocated for the project have been released. Rs 336 million allocated for Khushhal Garh bridge on Indus River in Kohat have also been released whereas out of Rs 600 million earmarked for Lyari Expressway in Karachi, Rs 300 million have been released.
According to official data Rs 1202.600 million allocated in the previous year PSDP for M-4 Package-4 have been released while out of 1,458.440 million allocated ss Rs 958.440 million have been released.
Rs 806.400 million allocated for Rehabilitation of NHA highway network damaged during floods 2110 have been released. Out of Rs 5,000 earmarked for widening and improvement of N-85 Hoshab-Surab Highway, Rs 4999.920 million have been released.
