TCP sells imported sugar thru auction

KARACHI - Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) on Wednesday sold 24,800 MT imported sugar through auction in the open market at different prices ranging between Rs68,500/- PMT to Rs59,060/- PMT on ex-godown basis, said a TCP press release. TCP, in response to tender dated 27-09-2010, received offers from 141 parties from the Province of Punjab (Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan & Islam-abad), Sindh (Karachi, Hyder-abad, Sukkur & Kashmor), Balochistan (Quetta) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malak-and, Peshawar & Karak). This was the most widespread tender participated by the retailers, traders, whole-sellers from all over the country. The tender offered minimum quantity of 50 MT and maximum quantity of 500 MT. TCP has awarded the tender to 58 different parties of all the provinces of the country and sold a quantity of 24,800 MT at a weighted average price of Rs61,296/- PMT at the total cost of Rs. 1.520 billion. The 2nd tender of 25,000 MT is scheduled to open on Thursday (07-10-2010) to sell the sugar on the same pattern. This sale would improve the supply position of sugar in the open market, providing relief to the common men.
