Lahore - The Commerce Ministry has dismissed the allegations of irregularities in the LCCI elections 2014 exonerating present management of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry of all allegations, said a press release issued by the LCCI.
Opposition group, reacting to the decision, said that the decision is not according to the trade body act 2013, as the ministry did not follow the rules and regulations, without applying legal mind while deciding the case. “The deficiencies in the case are clear and the opposition group will challenge this case in the highest court,” said Sardar Usman Ghani, a leader of opposition group. He said that the ministry has given clean chit to promote corruption at LCCI financial and managerial affairs by deciding the case in favour of present ‘corrupt management’.
According to the LCCI management, Ministry of Commerce in its order stated that after hearing the parties at length, perusing the relevant record and relevant provisions of law and rules, it is held that the elections of LCCI for the year 2014-15 were conducted in accordance with relevant provisions of Trade Organizations Act, 2013 and Trade Organizations Rules, 2013. The appellants have failed to provide any evidence that the AGM was not concluded. Hence, the appeal is hereby dismissed.
The Director General Trade Organizations had already rejected the petition in January this year following which the petitioners had approached the Commerce Ministry with their appeal.
The petition against the LCCI elections was co-filed by Ch. Muhammad Amjad and Sardar Usman Ghani.
