KARACHI (APP) - Shipping activity remained active at Port Qasim where four ships scheduled to load/offload Containers, 40,074 tones Cement and 15,496 tones Palm were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. Meanwhile, another container ship also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was maintained at seventy three percent at the Port on Friday as against to eighty two percent on previous day where a total of eight ships namely C.V Maersk. Novazzano, M.V Rose-II, M.V Marcam Pania, M.V Leopard-S, M.V Coral, M.T Samho Jasper, M.T AI-Soar-II and M,T Glory are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Sugar, Palm Oil, Diesel oil and Iron ore respectively during last 24 hours. Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 69,399 tones comprising 53,242 tones imports and 16,157 tones exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,927 Containers (Boxes) was handled during last 24 hours. Four ships M.V Royal Diamond, M.V Sichem Marseille, M.T Samho Jasper and M.T AI-Soor-II sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships C.V Maersk Novazzano and M.V Rose-II are expected to sail on Saturday afternoon. Container ship MSC Jeanne and Edible oil vessel Gemini are expected to take berths at QICT and LCT respectively on Saturday. M,V Multan and M.V BSC Thames scheduled to load/offload Cement and General Cargo are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, while C.V Cape Martin, M.T AI-Salam and M,V Sunrise are due to arrive on Sunday.
