Service providers asked to pay ST by 15th

OUR STAFF REPORTER KARACHI - The Sindh Revenue Board has advised all the service providers of the taxable services under Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act 2011 to get enrolled, file return form in time and pay monthly sales tax on services rendered and provided during the month of July 2011 in Sindh by August 15, 2011. The major taxable services include advertisement, banking companies, insurance and reinsurance companies, cooperative financing societies, modarbas, musharikas, leasing companies, foreign exchange dealers, non banking financial institutions and other persons dealing in such services, construction services, franchise services, ports and terminal operators, custom agents, shipping agents, stevedores, shipping management services, freight forwarding agents, contractual execution of work or furnishing supplies, hotels/restaurants/caterers, stock brokers, money exchangers, telecommunication etc., the spokesman added. In pursuance of the 18th Amendment and 7th NFC award, the Sindh Assembly in June 2011 had unanimously passed the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Bill 2011 which has been duly promulgated and has been made effective from 1st July 2011. Under the law, the Sindh Revenue Board, Government of Sindh, has taken the control for management, administration end collection of the sales tax on services. Since the Sindh Sales Tax Ordinance 2000 stands repealed all such services providers of taxable services being rendered and provided in Sindh are legally required to pay directly in the Head of Account # 8-02382. Government of Sindh in authorized branches of National Bank of Pakistan. The registration, enrollment and preparation of payment challan is to be made through web based online automated system which can be logged on www.e.srb.gos.pk. The spokesman further informed that for facilitation of taxpayers a call center facility has been established which can be reached by calling 021-111 778 000 to seek any assistance or support.
