Advice to citrus, mango growers

LAHORE : Gardeners should water mango and citrus gardens after using phosphorus, potassium, zinc and manure to get good yield. An agriculture department spokesman said on Sunday that 2kg superphophate should be used for each plant of mango, urea 1kg, SOP 2kg, gypsum 10kg while manure 80kg while for citrus plants manure 60kg, phosphorus 750 gram, potassium 500 gram and zinc sulphate 50gram. He also suggested the gardeners to make proper arrangements for covering small plants to save them from cold weather. He said that citrus fruits should not be plucked with the hand as it could harm its quality and gardeners should use recommended tools for the purpose.
They should avoid excess watering in cold weather, he added.
