NAVTTC starts upgrading website
ISLAMABAD (Staff Reporter): Executive Director National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Capt. Tariq Masud (Retd) has directed the Management of Information System (MIS) Section of NAVTTC to upgrade the website. He nominated Focal Person each from the operational wings who would provide data of their wings with the approval of concerned Director General.
He further proposed salient features and all stake holders’ links for incorporation in website. Website should be in bi-lingual i.e. in English and Urdu. It should be the best source of information, education and guidance for all stakeholders of TVET particularly for an easy access to the marginalized sections of the society as well as less educated jobless youth of the country. Moreover NAVTTC’s website must reflect the present government’s programmes and policies about youth development prominently, asserted Executive Director while taking a briefing from MIS Section. He further added that MIS Section, itself, would upgrade the website therefore millions of rupees from national exchequer will be saved as a step towards self-reliance. All Officers of NAVTTC Headquarters participated in the briefing and gave their valuable suggestions and inputs. The Executive Director appreciated their proposals.
NIT repaid all loans
LAHORE (PR): NIT has repaid the entire borrowing of R 17.2 billion obtained from different banks/financial institutions for NIT State Enterprise Fund against sovereign guarantee of Government of Pakistan. NIT has also paid Rs. 9 Billion as markup to the lenders during the period. After total payment of Rs. 26.2 billion on account of principal and total markup to the lenders, the net assets of NIT-SEF as on 31st December 2013 still stood at Rs. 16.92 billion. This was stated by Manzoor Ahmed, MD-NIT in a press statement. It may be mentioned that NIT – State Enterprise Fund was launched in January 2009 to support the stock market at the time of unprecedented crisis in the stock market. Initially the GOP guarantee was issued for a period of 3 years which expired on 31st December 2011.
South Asian Cities moot
KARACHI (PR): The ‘Cities and Us’ Pakistan Urban Forum–South Asian Cities Conference 2014 begins tomorrow (Friday) here. The conference that will bring together prominent government leaders, community based organisations, urban activists, corporate leadership, practitioners and academics, will discuss issues related to urban development of South Asian cities.
The three-day conference that will continue till Sunday, January 12, is a project being driven by the Planning and Development Department of the Government of Sindh, the South Asia Institute of Harvard University, Urban Unit, Government of Punjab and the Institute of Architects, Pakistan.
The inaugural ceremony will be held today at the Mohatta Palace in Karachi with dignitaries from the government expected to be present to mark the occasion.
JZT award show on 18th
LAHORE (PR): Jehad for Zero Thalassemia (JZT) is organising an award show for volunteer-of-the-year on January 18th at University of Central Punjab’s Auditorium at 5.00 pm.
In the Beaming Soul Show, around 25 categories of JZT volunteers would be awarded in the inaugural session. The distinguished guests would be from Lahore Chamber of Commerce, corporate industry, media industry and academia who would evaluate this pilot attempt that potentially aims at receiving national level hype and fame. In fact, it would be a type of commendation for the efforts being put in by volunteers of JZT for social uplift.
As management of JZT has declared 2014 as ‘Year of Social Entrepreneurs’, families of 50 thalassemic kids.
who have already been adopted by JZT Social Entrepreneurs under the programme ‘Each One Ease One’ are invited to voice their feelings and propose more suggestions to upgrade this programme. The JZT management would call for adopting further 50 thalassemic kids on the spot.
It is worth mentioning that JZT has planned to adopt approximately 10,000 thalassemic kids in current year.
