Railways likely to get 100 locomotives in 2014

LAHORE - Pakistan Railways is likely to add 100 locomotives in its fleet in 2014, an official of the department has said.
Currently the public utility is running around 200 passenger and freight trains and after the addition the 300 trains would ply at up and down routes. The official said that management would focus to strengthen freight sector in the current year as only five to six trains run in fright sector. “Railways workshops has started overhauling of engines and from them around 30 locomotives will add in system,” said the official. The department would get 58 locomotives from China and 10 from Korea before end of this year, the official added.
