Seed Corp forms backbone of agri sector: Olakh
 
 
 
LAHORE - Punjab Seed Corporation MD Muzaffar Mehmood has expressed his gratitude for the approval of allotting 5-kanal plot to PSC by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Minister for Agriculture Ahmed Ali Olakh and hoped that this act of them would enhance the performance of department.
According to press release issued here on Sunday, Muzaffar said that PSC is playing a leader role in seed industry and government has fulfilled employees long-standing demand by approving 5-kanal plot. He reminded that hectic efforts of Chairman Board and Minister Agriculture Ahmed Ali Olakh cannot be ignored. Punjab Minister for Agriculture, Forest, Wildlife, Fisheries and Cooperative Ahmed Ali Olakh said agriculture is backbone of the economy and without giving due priority and attention to this sector, goal of prosperity could not be achieved in the country. After approving 5-kanal plot for PSC, He directed the officers of agro-based departments to make joint efforts in bringing maximum area under cultivation and take measures to increase the production of agricultural inputs.
He said that Punjab government is spending huge amount on agriculture research projects to give maximum benefits to farmers and eventually to country. He directed the Officers to meet peasants, know their problems and ensure provision of facilities provided by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for them. He was of the view that after spending huge amount in the sector, we should achieve the required results specially in connection with soil conservation, forestation, improving kitchen gardening and increasing fruits and vegetable production. He directed Forest and Horticulture Departments to work jointly in potential areas to find out fertile lands so that special schemes could be initiated for increasing agriculture production. The Provincial Minister further stated that PSC is a sole department that is providing better quality sees to farmers on cheap rates. With these authentic seeds, yielding of traditional or untraditional crops has risen up to 25 per cent, he added.
