Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has said that the country would be facing 35/40 percent shortages of water during Rabi season. IRSA Chairman, Bashir Ahmad Dahar presiding over IRSA meeting yesterday told this. The meeting decided that 20,000 to 1,00,000 cusecs of water from Sindh's share in Rabi season would be slashed, while that of Punjab by 40,000 to 49,000 cusecs. Tarbela Dam water discharge has dwindled by 1,40,000 cusecs to 1,30,000 cusecs due to low temperatures in Northern Areas and rising demand in the provinces. Last year Rabi season also had witnessed a shortfall of 23 percent.
