CM opens signal-free junction project

HANDOUT - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has inaugurated Qainchi signal free junction project here Tuesday which has been completed within 170 days. Completion of this project at the busiest point of Ferozepur Road will benefit more than two lakh vehicles daily while a saving of fuel of two billion rupees will also be made annually. U-turn on Ghazi Road and splendid Walton Flyover project on Ferozepur Road have been completed at a cost of Rs80 crore. Total length of its first flyover and U-turn No.5 is 1011 meters. Completion of three mega projects including Walton Ferozepur Road flyover and Azadi Chowk Flyover within 175 days is a record and will benefit the citizens of Lahore as well as other cities besides resulting in saving of time.
Talking to media after inauguration of this project, Shahbaz Sharif said that Qainchi signal free junction will increase the beauty of the city as well as play an important role in the economic development of the provincial metropolis. He said that completion of 20 mega projects in Lahore within a few years is unprecedented. He said that construction and expansion project of Multan Road has been completed while execution of Lahore-Kasur Road and Thokar Niazbeg Flyover projects have facilitated the masses. He congratulated the people on completion of project within a record period and said that he dedicates Qainchi Signal free junction to the masses. He said that this project will remove traffic problems. He said that it is a development project against which long march and sit-ins are being conducted. He said that the projects of the government are aimed at progress and prosperity of the citizens. He said that the people will reject the negative politics of long march and sit-ins. The Chief Minister said that August 14 is the day of independence of Pakistan which is commemorated to pay tributes to those who rendered sacrifices for the creation of the country. He said that the Pakistani nation will not allow anyone to waste these sacrifices. Shahbaz Sharif said that those involved in long march and sit-ins want to push the country into darkness and they will be rejected by the citizens. He said that the nation will not allow anyone to play with the future of the country.
He said that development process will continue. He said the nation is with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the journey of progress and development will continue. The Chief Minister felicitated government officers and the workers who took part in the construction of flyover and also shook hand with labourers. Chairman LDA Ahad Cheema gave briefing to the Chief Minister regarding the project.
