Pakistan, Italy sign deal for veggie, fruit growers

ISLAMABAD : An agreement for an amount of euro 1.35 million grant Assistance & support to Fruit & Vegetable Growers in the Swat Valley, was signed between Pakistan and Republic of Italy on Monday.Dr Waqar Masood Khan, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division and Vincenzo Prati, Ambassador has signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments. The project will be implemented by Govt. KP and executed within one year.
 The objectives of the project included a preliminary agro-environmental analysis for identification and planning of subsequent interventions, improve field production and post-harvest management including better marketing activities, Identify and preserve local biodiversity and their promotion at national and international level and training of farmers on several subjects such as nursery and cultivation techniques, crop protection, and production of out of season vegetables.
