Islamabad - Pakistan has offered technical training to Afghanistan’s professional in oil, gas and mineral sectors.
This offer was made by the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan during his meeting with Finance Minister of Afghanistan, Dr Umer Zakhilwal who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday. Khan said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are blessed with the abundant natural resources and Pakistan is ready to provide technical assistance and training to Afghanistan’s professionals to tap its resources in the oil & gas and mineral sectors, said a press release from ministry of petroleum.
Afghan Finance Minister welcomed the Minister of State’s offer for technical cooperation and invited the Minister and the technical experts from Pakistan to visit Afghanistan in near future. Afghan Finance Minster also expressed desire to enhance economic relations with Pakistan and said that projects like Islamabad-Kabul Motorway, Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Transit Trade Route and Tapi Gas Pipeline can play catalytic role to boost trade and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations. Secretary Petroleum, Abid Saeed, Chairman OGDCL Zahid Muzaffar, and Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai were also present in the meeting.
This offer has been made to Afghanistan at a time when Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai is due on his first two-day state visit to Pakistan since he took office last month.
