LAHORE - The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Sunday said the PTI’s politics of protest in Karachi yesterday caused a huge loss of Rs 65 billion to the private sector. Talking to APP here, Zonal Chairman and Federation Vice President SM Naseer said the country had been passing through a critical phase since its inception and it is the need of the hour that economy and democracy ought to be strengthened on a top priority for its survival not by resorting to politics of violence and protest at the cost of national economy. He said prevailing global scenario, the survival of states now absolutely banks on sound economy.
He said to achieve this target, political stability was equally pre-requisite.
He said all political parties should shun the politics of violence and strike in the larger national interest to strengthen both national economy and democracy which are part and parcel.
Chairman United Business Group and VP SAARC Chamber Iftikhar Ali Malik talking to APP, categorically announced that entire business community once again reposed their full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and in prevailing circumstance, the elected government must complete its five year term for sustained economic growth.
He said, “We strongly condemn the anti-democratic self-styled politics of Imran Khan who is bent upon derailing the system to achieve its ulterior motives and nefarious designs to please foreign masters.”
Another federation VP Munawar Mughal told APP that due to the political situation, organised investment oriented exhibitions and sports events in Pakistan have altogether been cancelled which he added is great national loss but political opponents did not realise it at all.
He said: “We fully support the elected government unconditionally and will not allow disgruntled elements to sabotage democracy and continuity of a politically stable government is mandatory for sound economy”.
Presidential candidate for FPCCI election Muhammad Adrees urged the PTI Chief Imran Khan do not play with destiny of the nation by undemocratically resorting to the politics of confrontation and violence.He said that PTI sit-ins has inflicted billions of rupees irreparable loss to business community.
