KARACHI - Despite the ongoing world financial crisis, CMC is quite confident to invest in Pakistan energy industry. A China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) team is moving on mining operation at Sonda-Jherruk coal field in District Thatta, Sindh province in the beginning of year 2009. CMC commenced its preliminary studies for mine construction work in May 2008. And CMC will increase its input gradually in Sonda-Jherruk project and have decided to invest 2 million U S Dollar more for the development of the coalmine. CMC will invite high officials of Pakistan government to join the formal opening ceremony of the subjected project at a proper time. This is the second detailed exploration made by CMC at Sonda-Jherruk coal-field. The main contents are Shaft Geological Investigation, Detailed Hydro-geological Testing and Water Resources Investigation. Shaft Drilling is a great milestone for the development of the coalmine. Six containers of exploration equipments have been sent from China to the work site. Presently there are 77 persons at site, including 21 Chinese engineers and 56 Pakistani. The exploration work is greatly supported by the Sindh Government and Sindh Police is also providing round the clock security to the project on priority basis. CMC expresses great thanks for the supports to all corners, The coal resource of Pakistan are abundant, however, exploitation are drawn from it in a very limited way. CMC is a well-reputed company of china and maintains a worldwide reputation. It has successfully developed coalmines in countries such as Bangladesh and Vietnam. For many years, CMC has been endeavoring to practice the mature experience of coalmine development and are now focusing Pakistan, and are in process to promote high-level coalmine and power plant to Pakistan. As far as CMC is concerned, Pakistan is in urgent demand on energy supply, especially power supply. Sonda-Jherruk Coal Mine & Power Plant Project developed by CMC will supply 405 megawatt power supply for Pakistan, which will be highly instrumental to promote the economic development of Pakistan and to open new doors for foreign investors.
