KARCHI Apropos news story titled Oil firms overcharge diesel consumers in October published in a section of press, PSO would like to categorically deny allegations of overcharging its consumers on diesel sales. PSO clarifies that diesel prices are consistently computed on a pricing formula that is based on the actual cost and quantities of cargoes imported during the relevant month. This is the same formula that has been used since the deregulation of diesel pricing in 2001. However, in the price computation for October, 2011 OGRA directed PSO to apply standard conversion factors for determining volumes of imports for price computation of diesel instead of using actual quantities received by PSO.
