ISLAMABAD - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on August 13, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.58 percent over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 215.96 as against 214.72 registered in the previous week, according to data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) here. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.54 per cent by rising from 207.60 in the previous week to 208.73 in the week under review. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 31.48 percent. During the week under review average prices of 9 items registered decrease, while that of 29 items increased with the remaining 15 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included moong pulse (washed), mash pulse (washed), tomatoes, rice irri-6, egg hen (farm), lawn, bananas, vegetable ghee (loose), and red chillies. The items which registered increase in their prices included, tea (packet), onions, garlic, LPG( 11 kg cylender.), chicken (farm), bath soap (Lifebouy), curd, sugar, coarse latha, gur, wheat (average quality), voil printed, electricity bulb (60wats), wheat flour (average quality), milk (fresh), tea (prepared), firewood, shirting, cooked dal, mustard oil, gram pulse (washed), potatoes, masoor pulse (washed), bread plain (mid size), mutton, kerosene, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin) and beef The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, rice basmati (broken), milk powdered (Nido), salt (powdered), cooked beef, cigarettes, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng.(Bata), match box, washing soap (Nylon), gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU), electricity charges, (1-100 unit), petrol, diesel, and telephone local call.
