ISLAMABAD - Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing companies have increased the price of LPG twice in just two days.
Chairman All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Irfan Khokhar said in a statement here on Monday that LPG marketing companies made an unjustified increase by Rs.5 per kg in LPG prices while domestic cylinder price were raised by Rs.60 and those of commercial cylinder by 240.He said that government does not increase the prices, adding that LPG prices have been increased by Rs.25 per kg in just two days. LPG producers have set price at Rs 60000 per ton while in international market, LPG price is at contact price (cp) 563$ per ton, he added.
He said according to the rules of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and LGP policy, gas should be kept available in the market at Rs 95 per kg. But the marketing companies were indulged in black marketing and artificial shortages and violating the Ogra rule, he alleged. Khokhar said international prices remained lower than local prices during the last three months.
He appealed to the government, ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and Ogra to take strict action against black marketing, illegal profiteering, violation of Ogra rule of LPG marketing companies. He said at present LPG was being sold at 120 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1390 in Karachi, 140 Rs per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1630 in Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad and Sukkur, Rs 145 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1690 in Mirpur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kohat, Peshawar and Bannu, Rs 160 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1870 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and at Rs 165 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1930 in Murree, Azad Kashmir and FATA.
