Nepra raises power tariff by Re 1 per unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday approved an increase in the power tariff by Re 1 per unit.
According to details, the power tariff has been raised under the monthly fuel adjustment plan and it will be applied in the next month's bills.
Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to increase the electricity price by Re1/unit on account of monthly fuel price adjustment for  the month of December.
The CPPA in its request pleaded to the regulator that cost of power generation with high-speed diesel (HSD) remained at Rs23/unit and furnace oil Rs16.57 per unit.
Authorities told Nepra that water outflow from dams remained low due to closure of canals that is why fuel demand surged for electricity generation.
Later, NEPRA approved Re1/unit power tariff.
