ISLAMABAD (APP) - The exports of services sector grew by 10.60 per cent during the first four months of current fiscal year as against the same period of last year. Overall services exports were recorded at $1,649 million during the period July-October, 2011 against the exports of $1,491 million during the same period of last fiscal year, according to data provided by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). On the other hand, service imports into the country also increased by 7.01 percent by going up from $ 2,425 million during July-October 2010 to $2,595 million in the same period of current year, the data revealed. The services trade deficit during the period under review increased by 1.28 percent when compared to the deficit of the corresponding period of last year. Similarly, country's services exports of the month of October over September 2011 was increased by 11.72 percent with US$ 467 million as against the exports of US$ 418 million in September 2011. The imports of services, however, decreased in October by 6 percent as against the last month of same year. Imports of services in October 2011, were recorded at US$ 674 million against US$ 717 million imports of September 2011. The services trade deficit during the period under review was decreased by 30.77 percent as against the previous month of current fiscal year. Services exports increased by 11.19 percent during October 2011 when compared with the exports of US$ 420 million during the same month of last year. Services imports during October 2011 decreased by 4.13 percent when compared to the imports of US$. 703 million during the same month of last year.
