Industrialists of SITE Association staged protest in front of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited Office due to severe shortage of gas and continuing low pressure of gas.
Protesters holding placards demanded proper and adequate gas supply without any interruption.
Muhammad Jawed Bilwani President Site Association of Industry (SAI) while addressing to the gathering said biggest industrial area of the city faces 13 days short supply during month of January while the low pressure also another threat that badly hampered the industries progress.
He said that SITE Industrial Area is the oldest and largest industrial area of Pakistan where the first gas pipeline was laid just for the SITE Industries.
He said that without proper and adequate supply of gas to SITE Industries, the industries will not be able to run their production and suffer imminent closure leading to mass unemployment of over 500,000 workers who are breadwinners for over 2.5 million people who hail from all over Pakistan and work in the SITE Industries Area.
Later Muhammad Jawed Bilwani and his delegation had a meeting with MD SSGCL, Khalid Rahman.
MD SSGCL in his announcement to the protest gathering made firm commitments that proper and adequate supply of gas would be made available to SITE Industries without any interruption.
Further the MD SSGCL committed that gas connections of CNG Stations would be separated from gas pipelines of Industries in SITE Industrial Areas at the soonest with a separate pipeline for CNG Stations. On these firm assurances of MD SSGCL industrialist ended the protest gathering.
