Waqar for further bolstering economic ties with Sweden

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Senator Waqar Khan, Federal Minister for Investment has said that Pakistan and Sweden enjoy friendly relations ranging from economic ties to cultural exchange and there is need to transform existing cooperation into trade partnership to benefit the people of two countries. The Minister for investment was talking to Ms.Anna Karin Enstrom Ambassador of Sweden who called on him in his office here Friday. The Minister for investment said that Pakistan welcomes foreign investment in host of areas especially energy, oil & gas and power sector along agriculture, livestock and dairy development. He said, to meet growing energy demand Pakistan is exploring all possible sources of energy for power generation like wind, solar and coal. The Minister for investment briefed the Ambassador that the government is addressing concerns of the investors on priority basis and Task Force on security as well as new investment policy for 10 years is on cards. He said, Pakistan offers investment friendly atmosphere ensuring continuity of polices as well as tax holiday and relaxation in duties on import of machinery. The Ambassador of Sweden appreciated the steps taken by the government to create conducive atmosphere for foreign investment. She said that a trade delegation from Sweden will be arriving soon in Pakistan to explore new avenues for trade and business and said that Swedish companies are keen to start joint ventures with Pakistani cos.
