NA body directs PIA to cut fares

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat directed that the management of PIA may lessen the fares of air tickets according to decline of petroleum prices.
This was directed during the meeting of the said committee held on Wednesday in the Conference Room of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Headquarters, Karachi under the Chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, MNA to discuss the performance of PIA and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The Committee directed that the management of PIA may ensure to make their PIA flights operational at all airports of small cities as the people of those areas were suffering badly due to non-availability of flights.
The Committee expressed concern over the poor performance of PIA and CAA as it failed to overcome their problems over a period of time which causing huge resentment among passengers.  The Committee expressed annoyance over the incident of Khawaja Saad Rafique, Federal Minister for Railways and directed the managements of PIA and CAA to take stringent measures to avoid such mishaps in future.  
The Committee directed the management to make PIA compatible with other international airlines by offering various incentives to its travelers so that they prefer to fly with it.
The Committee also directed that PIA may restart flights from Mohin-jo-Daro and report to the Committee during its next meeting. The Committee deferred the remaining agenda till next meeting being held tomorrow. Earlier, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Minister In-charge for Cabinet Secretariat and Chairman (PIA) briefly apprised the Committee about the efforts made by them to improve the performance of PIA and problems faced by them in this regard.
They sought support of the Standing Committee in resolving their issues.
The meeting was attended by the MNAs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Syed Javed Ali Shah, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, Ms. Shahnaz Saleem, Mrs.Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Moulvi Agha Muhammad, Syed Ali Raza Abidi,  Muhammad Rehan Hashmi, M. Ayaz Soomro, Ramesh Lal and Nazir Ahmad Bughio.
