Punjab CNG stations to close for 8 more hours

LAHORE – The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) enhanced the shutdown schedule for CNG stations in Lahore, Shaikhupura, Sahiwal, Multan and Gujranwala regions for another eight hours on Wednesday.
The company has said that the gas filling stations in the said regions will remain closed on Wednesday night and will be opened on Thursday (today) morning at 6am. The reason behind the temporary enhancement in schedule, according to the SNGPL General Manager, is the surging demand of the domestic sector which is crossing the 1,100 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD).
Vehicles’ owners went back home desperately when they came at the filling stations to get fuel for their vehicles on Wednesday night but found them closed.
SNGPL General Manager Rehan Nawaz while talking to TheNation said that “SNGPL is facing shortfall of 850MMCFD and it is not possible for them to meet the parallel demand of CNG and domestic sectors.”
He said that domestic demand suddenly had gone up by 150 MMCFD due to severe cold. He dispelled the option of restoration of gas supply to Punjab industry in the continuing week.
