Wheat growers warned of weeds threat

MULTAN : Agriculture experts have urged growers to be ready for the weeds threat to wheat as wide-leaf weed started budding out soon after the first water application. In a release issued by the media liaison unit of the Punjab agriculture department on Friday, experts said weeds grew at the expense of crop growth and undermined the quality and production. They also pointed out grass-like weeds traditionally called ‘Jangli Jai’ and ‘Dumbi Sitti’. They advised growers to apply proper weedicide at a time when the field was wet after the first water application to control wide-leaf weeds.
