Mangla Dam raising project affectees facilitated

MIRPUR, AJK - A grand media centre costing Rs 250 million will be constructed at New Mirpur Garden City under the grand welfare package offered by the government of Pakistan for the rehabilitation of the ongoing raising of the countrys second biggest reservoir Mangla Dam, official sources said. A peace of 17 kanal of land has been reserved for the proposed grand Kashmir Media Centre at the block meant for additional families in New Mirpur Garden city following the exceptional interest taken by GM Mangla Dam Raising project, WAPDA Rasheed Ali Bangish in response to the demand of local journalist fraternity, the sources told newsmen here Thursday. The sources continued that 12 kanal of land has been reserved for the proposed Kashmir Media Centre whereas rest of five kanal of land has been reserved for the construction of the building of Divisional Directorate of Public Relations (Information) Department. The sources said that PC-I of the grand Media Centre at New Mirpur city has yet been inked over the idea authored and moved before local WAPDA authorities by Kashmir Press Clubs President Sayed Abid Hussain Shah and senior journalists Hafiz Muhammad Maqsood and Zaheer Azam Jiraal and Deputy Director Information Mirpur division, Raja Azher Iqbal. They further revealed that four kanal peace of land each has also been reserved for the construction of press club buildings at the sites reserved for additional families of Mangla dam affectees at Islamgarh, Chakswari and Dadayal towns. The sources said that the media centre in new Mirpur city and the press club buildings at other aforesaid small towns will be furnished with latest infrastructure to facilitate the local journalists for performance of their professional duties for the national print and electronic media as well as the state press. The GM WAPDA Rasheed Bangish meanwhile told the aforesaid senior journalists delegation that WAPDA was constructing over 66 buildings of public utilisation for the government and autonomous institutions in New Mirpur city. The project aimed at to provide latest amenities of life to the Mangla dam affectees as well as the people of Mirpur including the journalists fraternity to perform their professional duties.
