HYDERABAD - The participants of a pre-budget seminar have termed the bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan as beneficial for both the countries and also opined that trade with Iran at the western border will also help in boosting the economy of the country.
The participants expressed these views at a pre-budget seminar organised by Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) in collaboration with the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants Pakistan for HCCI here at the Chamber’s Secretariat on Sunday.
The speakers said that both Afghanistan and Iran are the neighbouring countries and the trade relations with these countries will definitely improve the economy of the country as well as open new markets for the business community of Pakistan. The speakers also called Federal Finance Minister to take action for addressing the grievances of the business community of Karachi who are contributing 65 percent revenue to the total income. The representative of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Vohra said the commercial importers are already paying 17 percent sales tax, three percent additional sales tax and nine percent income tax withholding as such the audit of commercial importers is not justified, he maintained. Among others, the President HCCI Goharullah, Senior Vice President Turab Ali Khoja, Vice President FPCCI Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Khalid Mehmood, Attaullah and Abdul Rasheed also addressed the participants of the seminar and highlighted the problems being faced by the business community of Hyderabad.
