PCSIR Lahore dispatches 3 trucks for flood victims

ISLAMABAD (PR) - Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), a premier R&D organization of Ministry of Science and Technology is taking several initiatives for the relief activities of flood affectees. During a media briefing here in lslamabad, it was announced that beside the salary deduction of PCSIR employees, the volunteer relief camps have been erected in PCSIR Laboratories Complexes, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar. These relief activities have started on the special instructions of Minister and Federal Secretary for Science and Technology. The Karachi laboratory is providing relief goods like medicines, cloths, dry milk, wheat flour, ORS and water while Lahore laboratory and Peshawar laboratory are extending relief activities to the affectees of Southern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region respectively. On Wednesday, Lahore Laboratory handed over more than three (03) trucks of relief goods to Pakistan Army at Lahore. The dedicated teams of PCSIR along with other stakeholders and Ministrys R&D organizations are approaching to the remote and affected areas in coordination with provincial NDMAs. Pfizer donates $60,000 for flood victims KARACHI (PR) - Pfizer Thursday raised serious concerns regarding the consumption of fake medicine in Pakistan, especially during recent floods. A representative of Pfizers Asia-Pacific Global Security operations visited Pakistan this week and explained how his team works with local authorities by providing them with leads on counterfeit manufacturers. The manufacturing of counterfeit medicine is one of the worst crimes against humanity as it is a great threat to the patients health and trust. We are in Pakistan to raise awareness of this issue especially during the relief efforts, said Scott Davis, Senior Director for Pfizers Global Security Asia-Pacific operations. Pakistan has been identified by the World Health Organization as a major contributor to the production of counterfeit medicines in the world. Pfizer Pakistan through its parent company is donating $60,000 to the UNICEF for relief work in affected areas and hopes to contribute further through employees and company funds. Mobilink facilitates over 38,000 flood victims Our Staff Reporter LAHORE - Mobilink Pakistan has reached out to more than 38,000 flood victims along with relief goods. According to a press release issued on Thursday, items distributed among the suffering families including 35,000 bottles of clean drinking water, 600 bags of flour, 1,260 packs of dry rations and 3,650 packs of ready-to-eat items. Along with the relief goods, a large number of Mobilink employees are also providing dedicated volunteer hours. Mobilink is distributing these items with the help of a cross-functional team of employees directly and in coordination with relief organisations and armed forces where needed. Our teams have reached close to 5,000 families in remote areas in and around Muzaffargarh, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swat, Sukkur, D.I. Khan as well as smaller towns and villages across Pakistan, the press release said.
